Kintsugi Lounge runs kintsugi workshops and classes from our base in Minamimorimachi, Osaka — so that broken or chipped ceramics can be used again instead of being thrown away. We offer both "easy kintsugi", which anyone can try, and traditional "urushi kintsugi" using natural lacquer.

Connecting people through experience

With easy kintsugi using synthetic resin, we want many people to experience kintsugi and to spread a culture of mending chipped pieces at home. Joining the fragments and enjoying the new landscape they form — "mitate" — is a richer experience than simply taking care of things.

What we offer

• Easy kintsugi kits: Kits for repairing at home in a short time, without urushi lacquer. Supervised by our instructors, with an illustrated manual (in Japanese).
• Easy kintsugi workshops: Hands-on sessions of about 2 hours in Minamimorimachi, Osaka and other venues (held in Japanese).
• Urushi kintsugi class: Held on Fridays and Sundays in Minamimorimachi, Osaka. Twice a month, you repair your own pieces step by step (held in Japanese).
• For hotels and companies: We take inquiries about in-room experiences for hotels, corporate gifts, training and workshops.

Track record

Supervised Felissimo's "Kintsugi at home" program; a 4-day kintsugi workshop at Hankyu Department Store Umeda (June 2019); workshops at Sakai Rishonomori, department stores and community learning centers.
